About Stingless Bee

Stingless bees, also known as stingless bees, are stingless bees that live only in tropical rainforests and do not live in Japan.
They are very small compared to regular honeybees, and look like black ants.
Since they have almost no predators, they have no need for stingers to protect themselves, and it is said that their stings have degenerated.
Stingless bee honey is stored in round pots like the one in the photo, and the honey is carefully sucked up one by one from these pots and collected with a tube.
Western honeybee beekeeping, which involves collecting the honey all at once with a centrifuge, is also time-consuming, but it takes even more time and effort. As a result, the production volume is much less than regular honey, and it has not yet been widely distributed in Japan.

Proporis

Regular beehives are mostly made of beeswax, with only a small amount of propolis.
However, stingless beehives are mostly made from propolis. Therefore, propolis naturally dissolves from the hive, producing highly concentrated honey. One of the causes of our aging is said to be the increase in active oxygen in the body, but it has been reported that stingless bee honey, which has propolis dissolved in it, has 20 times the antioxidant effect of regular honey.

Unheated

In fact, 99% of all honey sold in Japan and overseas is heated. Heated honey destroys the nutrients that honey originally contains, but unheated honey contains more than 150 types of nutrients, including about 10 types of vitamins, 27 types of minerals, 22 types of amino acids, 80 types of natural enzymes, and more than 10 types of organic acids, making it a very well-balanced superfood. Heated honey and unheated honey are completely different foods in terms of nutrition. Unheated honey is a superfood, but heated honey is best thought of as simply an additive to sweeten the taste.

Rare

It is said that the amount of honey that a single stingless bee produces before it dies is a whopping one teaspoon. The shape of the hive is still unique, and it is characterized by its pot-like shape as shown in the photo. The nectar is carefully drawn from these small pots one by one by hand, which is a very time-consuming process. As a result, the production volume is much smaller than regular honey, and it is not currently widely distributed in Japan.

Acidity

Its most distinctive feature is its refreshing sourness. The "sourness" you feel when you put it in your mouth is a new sensation! Stingless bee honey has a variety of flavors and aromas depending on the type of plant the bees collect nectar from. It has a high water content, making it a thin liquid with about 40% of the usual sugar content. It's not too sweet, so it's great for dieting and goes well with all kinds of foods.
